Built in 2008 as a piece of Bali on the Caribbean.
Nothing else in Playa del Carmen looks like this. Carved teak, palapa roofs open to the palms, rattan lanterns hanging over the lobby stair, and stone Buddhas and Balinese guardians standing along the water and among the tropical landscape. It was built as a Thai village on twenty thousand square meters of the Mexican Caribbean, and it still holds that same essence today.
The location is the other half of it. Calle 28 is the entrance to Mamitas, and by the time you reach Aldea Thai the road has already turned to sand. Fifth Avenue is one block behind you. Very few buildings on this coast are both this unusual and this well placed.
Every residence was finished in the same Thai style when the building opened. Since then many owners have renovated their condos in their own style, making each unit a unique experience: the architecture is shared, the interior style is not.

The Mirror Pool.
A long reflecting pool separates the two towers, with a walkway down the center of it and stone figures standing along the water. Walk the length of it and you arrive at the overlook: the beach club below, the sand, the sea, and Cozumel on the horizon.
The Village Pool.
This is where the day actually happens: wide and shallow at the near end where the children play, deepening as you walk until you are standing at the swim-up bar under the great palapa, with loungers and umbrellas the whole length of the deck.

Every residence is individually owned. The ones that are rented are let by their owner or by the manager that owner appoints. These are representative examples of the three unit types, not listings. The condominium keeps the grounds, the pools and the rules; your host takes your booking.
